Eddie Vedder is probably the best rock-vocalist in the world. With Pearl Jam he "rocks hard" most of the time, but on his own he's quiet and mellow, which suits him well. The lyrics are great and his voice is brilliant.

I should start this by saying I am a big fan of Pearl Jam and Eddie Vedders work and also play the ukelele so this ticks boxes for me before even listening to it!

That said, I found the whole album a bit too ukelele driven when listened to as a whole, but when the songs start to identify themselves in thier own right the simple stark beauty of each song starts to emerge.

The lyrics are interesting, personal and sad, revolving mainly around breaking up with someone and loss, the songs are very stripped down, most just ukelele and voice with the occasional string accompaniment.

It takes a few listens to get into but once you have it is a beautiful, rewarding album full of gems.

Following the Into The Wild OST, I was expecting a very engaging album... eventough it's not what I expected, it's a great album with a lot of beautifull songs!
