Description

There is a place on our planet which is stranger than any other - the least known and most mysterious. It is a juncture not unlike outer space, where conventional notions of time and distance evaporate. It is a magical and dangerous place to which the human body, as well as the human spirit, must adapt. It is the only place where a man named Jacques Mayhol truly feels at home. It is the sea - The Big Blue.

Comments about Big Blue (Director's Cut) (Blu-ray):

As noted in another comment, the lack of original English soundtrack completely ruins this particular version for English speakers - go for the DVD instead.

      Beware!

      By Frank

Comments about Big Blue (Director's Cut) (Blu-ray):

Beware, WOW is still listing this as the second edition (with the original english soundtrack - like it was shot, although the film and most of the actors are french), when in fact you will receive the first edition that only has the horrible french dubbed version. They have been made aware of and confirmed this problem (not only by me), but have not changed the specs.

Comments about Big Blue (Director's Cut) (Blu-ray):

I owned a VHS copy of this sumptuous film for many years before DVD saw my VHS tape collection consigned to the shop. I bought the Blu Ray cut looking forward to a remastering of the original film worthy of the beautiful cinematography and sound. However, the digitized print is only Ok and the audio is a terrible stereo track with - get this - English dubbed into French *with English Subtitles*... and then sometimes, to add insult to injury, you get the original, undubbed, unsubtitled English, i.e. Rosanna Arquette gets two voices.

I had to stop the film an hour and a half in, deeply disappointed. I guess I'll just look for a good DVD version instead.

Comments about Big Blue (Director's Cut) (Blu-ray):

I have this on all formats now and love it, it's the sort of film I could watch over and over again. Bluray adds an extra dimension to the whole movie experience.
