"The Mighty Clouds of Joy had no idea just how much their music would set the standard for the wave of groundbreaking music that would follow them. Originally formed as a traditional gospel quartet in 1959, the Los Angeles act began incorporating soul, R&B, and even rock influences into their music, adding stylish suits and choreography into their live act that would be replicated countless times in the years that followed.
