As part of the ‘Back To Black’ initiative – we’re proud to present the 1973 major label debut from Bob Marley & The Wailers – ‘Catch A Fire’.
The album established the band as international superstars. Leader Bob Marley in particular became world-famous. The socially aware lyrics and militant tone surprised many listeners, but others were attracted to songwriters Marley and Peter Tosh's confrontational subjects and optimistic view of a future free from oppression.
The cover art is one of the most instantly recognisable of all time – Bob Marley smoking a giant spliff. This is actually the revised cover – this initial cover art was fashioned like a cigarette lighter with a flip-top lid. It was only when it was initially produced in 1973 the cost of manufacture was deemed too high and hence the ongoing artwork was used. Original pressings of the album are now highly valuable. A timely opportunity to revisit a classic of its genre.
