Every week 19 million households gathered around their television set to be part of America's favorite 50's family. The Andersons, Jim (Robert Young), Margaret (Jane Wyatt), Princess, Bud, and Kitten portrayed a typical mid-century, middle-class, Midwestern family that viewers could relate to or wish to emulate. Father Knows Best premiered on CBS in October 1954 and ran for six successful seasons, earning six Emmy Awards from 14 Emmy nominations.
