For his Criss Cross debut, the Venezuelan born, New York based pianist Luis Perdomo has to chosen a program that includes eight originals, two Broadway stage compositions and Bud Powell tune. With Pathways, he demonstrates his mastery not only of Latin tinged material but also straight ahead jazz that is, by turns, rhapsodic, gently propulsive and boppish.
